Product Review

Garmin 530HCx

by   wicrisp ,   Sep 4, 2007

Pros:  Quickly picks up signal, lots of extras and features

Cons:  Only 500 waypoints, seems to get fuzzy when within 15-20ft of waypoint under cover.

Overall Rating: 4/5 stars

Author's Review

I currently own the Rino 530 and and 530HCx. The 530HCx is more sensitive and does pick up satellites quicker. When compared to a 76CSx it keeps a signal under cover, but is unable to hone in on the target like the 76CSx. You may get 15-20ft and it keeps bouncing around and never hones in-sort of like the compass is on. The radio, NOAA radio, mass storage, etc are all pluses. I don't know why Garmin did not go to 1,000 waypoints. Other than the above mentioned anomaly it is a great GPS unit.
