GREAT phone!!!!
Date of Review: Oct 28, 2008
The Bottom Line: This phone is expensive, but worth it. Has PalmPilot and Blackberry abilities, with so many more extras. I got a deal, but more than worth the asking prices around.
This phone is WONDERFUL!!!! I tried the BBerry, but HATED that darn little ball! I wanted this phone after playing with a friends, and when the oppertunity arrived I jumped on it!!
Now, I'm not super technical. I don't use e-mail on it, and for internet access I use Wi-Fi. (Did I also happen to mention that I'm super cheap??) I do text a lot, and also need the calendar. Also, I need stuff to be easy. I struggled with the Blackberry. This P1i has everything in front of you on the screen. For example, when I'm away from home, but want to use Wi-Fi at some location that offers it. Up at the top of the screen is the Wi-Fi symbol and I touch that. From there I choose to do a scan, then connect. Just like that. SO easy. I also check the battery, connect bluetooth and access the control panel from the always available icons.
You can customize your calendar options, and also the fast access menu. I read where someone complained about how slow and sluggish it is. It isn't super fast, but it's not a dud either. The speed does sometimes lag a little, but for me, it's not a big deal. Also was the camera. You can choose to select the quality and size of your pictures. I think a mistake people make is that once the 'click' is heard, people assume that the picture has been taken and then move away. It actually is taken a tad AFTER the 'click.' The picture quality is fine, but maybe the little camera face needs to be wiped now and then.?
I LOVE the 'writing' I can do for texting instead of clicking the keypad. I am not a fast texter, but the 'writing' I can do well! It predicts the words and saves me SO much time!
Also read about someone having battery issues. MY battery lasts 2+ days! I never turn it off and it charges VERY fast.
This is a fabulous phone for MY needs, and love it!
Oh, one thing I was going to mention. I don't know if all these phones are made the same, but mine has a slot for a SIM card. It was unlocked when I got it, but there were some things that didn't work on it. I called my Mobile carrier (with a T) and they were WONDERFUL and had NO qualms about my using a phone that I didn't buy FROM them. They were more interested in the fact that I still wanted to be with them and were MORE than happy to hook my phone up to work with their systems.
Only thing I can't figure out, thus far, (and must mention that I haven't tried very hard) is to send picture messages. I used to just pop them in a text and go, but with this phone it seems I must send them MMS. I don't know what MMS is or how to use it. I'm sure when I'm irritated enough, I'll take care of it. But for now, I just don't really care.
Oh, one more thing (LOL)... games are pretty hard to find for this phone and I don't want to download a bunch of junk. I did find a website that has some for purchase, and I did get a couple. I haven't looked in a while to see if that has changed and there are more available. But if games are a biggie for you, you might want to check into it.
