What is to become of a fifteen year-old boy who finds a mysterious stone in the mountains?

Eragon is a young boy who has been taken into the care of his uncle Garrow.Being young he wanders and explores a lot, and one day on an ordinary adventure he uncovers a small blue stone.

What is so important about a stone right? Wrong. One night the stone shakes and cracks and opens showing a very small creature. Dragon.

Eragon finds it hard to raise. Maybe not at first but later! Not only hiding it, but when it is young he must feed it and give it shelter. Not only does Eragon care for the dragon , but learns he can communicate telepathically and is able to show pictures to this dragon. Then comes more troubles. He must name this dragon, and asks his friend Brom without using details. Not realizing his dragon is female!

A lot of people who have read this book and said that it is gory, bloody and a very dark story. I will tell you right now, that it is not a novel for young children. I would say that Christopher Paolini Does add a dark twist to his story. I would say this story is recommended for teens and adults.
As for the pace of the story, I would have to say it isn't an easy read. It is a long book, but it keeps you locked right into it from cover to cover.

I bought this book at Barnes and Nobels for $9.95 (US) in the teen/adult section. What I liked about Eragon was it was mysterious. It didn't just start out "There once was a boy who found a dragon". You had to really collect the back round about this boy. What I really disliked about this book was that, there was way too much blood near the middle of the book it was not too too bad when it came to that stuff though.

I think I would recommend this book to anyone who ha read Harry Potter, Series of Unfortunate events,Spiderwick Chronicles, and the Chronicles of Narnia. This book is highly recommended. I like it, and you will too.
