Why didn't someone invent this before now?!
Date of Review: Dec 2, 2000
Just over a year ago we replaced our computer with one where we could get Internet access and I have loved it ever since. It is only natural then that when my 15 year old breadmaker die that I would surf the Internet to check out what was available. I clicked in on Cooking.com and was impressed with what I saw as I evaluated my options. I was delighted with the dramatic improvements that have been made. It is about time that someone thought to design a breadmaker that makes a loaf of bread that looks like you bought it from the store. It has two kneading paddles instead of only one which makes for better results. It is much easier to clean. You take the bread loaf out before you put the ingredients in which keeps the inside of the breadmaker cleaner. A video came with it which was very helpful.
I've only had it for a month but I have had a lot of fun with it. We enjoy whole wheat bread and I have had wonderful results by using whole wheat bread flour. It is very fascinating for my small granddaughters to watch it knead the dough. My oldest granddaughter dearly loves Grandma's bread. She loves for me to put butter on a slice of bread and heat it up in the microwave for her. I recently bought a breadslicer from the Internet of course with an electric knife and that adds to the pleasures of homemade bread with nicely cut slices.
It also makes dough for rolls which is also a lot of fun. It said that the dough would make 24 rolls so I experimented with different sized rolls. I discovered that I prefer it when the rolls look more like the bigger size dinner rolls. What I do now is to make 12 rolls instead of 24 and it works great. After the breadmaker has completed making the dough all I have to do is to let the rolls rise 40 minutes to an hour until they are doubled in size, put them in the oven and then everyone can dig in.
It also makes pizza dough and jam which sounds like a lot of fun but I have not tried either of those items yet.
