disappointing from such a leader

Date of Review:  Aug 26, 2006
The Bottom Line: Yamaha dropped the ball on this unit. Stick to the high end and avoid this one.
Review: I'm no stranger to Yamaha... I've had an HTR-5450 for some time that has been a tank and I love it, which lead me to get this when i was looking for a simple bedroom unit.

First off is the sound which, when coming from a higher model (but,...

Entry level perfection

Date of Review:  Aug 7, 2004
The Bottom Line: My advice is if you are looking for an entry level receiver and have your home theatre in a smaller room this is a great buy.
Review: If you find yourself short on cash and just have to buy a receiver the HTR-5730 is a very good choice. For around $200 it offers some nice tweaking options. If spending less then then $300 this receiver should be on everyone's short list.

Find me a better amp for the price

Date of Review:  Jun 21, 2004
Review: This amp is great for any input sources both digital and analog and non coded and coded. The amp does seem a little weak for its rated 100 watts however it has always cranked with plenty of oomph for me. If you're looking to rock the neighborhood on...

Proof you don't need to pay a lot for good sound!

Date of Review:  Mar 28, 2007
The Bottom Line: Typical Yamaha product, excellent quality, impeccable sound, more than you'd expect for the $$$ you paid.
Review: I bought this amp nearly 2 years ago as part of a Yamaha "home theatre in a box" package and have been extremely satisfied since day one.

Some folks mentionned "lack of power", and I guess if your aim is to rock the neighbourhood then this...

where is the power ?

Date of Review:  Jun 2, 2004
Review: Maybe its the Athena fs-1, but the 5730 does not have the "drive", the oomph I expected from 103 watts per channel... yes it has a smooth refined sound, but it seems the power is not getting out of the box. my nasty sherwood 6108 can drive the...

Amazing for the price

Date of Review:  Nov 2, 2005
Review: Yamaha HTR 5730 is perfect if ur room size is between 150 to 250sq feet. The amp power may be a little less, but it also depends on which brand of speakers one uses.If speakers are of good quality Sound will be awesome.

Better Than Expected

Date of Review:  Jan 11, 2005
Review: My 18 year old Yamaha receiver started flaking out on me, it was the power regulator for the display and volume control motor. Still sounds great though. So on boxing day I decided to buy this receiver and at least enter the age of surround sound...
