Great printer / supplies nightmare

We've been running a 7400DT for over a year. We use it to produce all kinds of communication materials for small businesses. It makes great business cards, post cards, brochures, display cards (12X18)and more. The quality is good the registration is acceptable. But the catch is the supplies! The toner cartridges have a RF chip that will shut down the entire system if you let the cartridge run out of toner. Even if you refill the cartridge, which is easy to do,it can shut off forcing you to buy a new cartridge at about $325 per color. They've been selling this printer for a couple of years and NO ONE has come up with a workaround for this problem yet!!! At $1300 a set for new cartridges it only takes 4 sets to equal the cost of the machine itself. This is a major rip-off
