Author's Review

Having just read a review from another member on this magazine that I felt did not do it justice (yet rated it 4 1/2 stars?) I was prompted to write my own. The suggestion that this magazine is "bland" and the implication that the target audience might be unaware of a world outside the subdivision and the Piggly-Wiggly or Overwaitea's (over-weightys) seemed to me an unfair evaluation. It was, however an opinion-and here's mine:

Woman's World is a woman's magazine-all kinds of women! The topics cover fashion to crafting to career and medical articles-and so much more in between. It's true that these subjects are more or less "touched upon" but most people realise that in-depth information-when needed, is better served by other means than magazines. Woman's World is light, yet informative, inspirational, fun , helpful and as described in the aforementioned review-NICE!

In Every Issue
This heading is useless with regard to Woman's World because miraculously they are able to include all the following things in every weekly issue!

Articles and Information

Several articles can be found each week in "Fashion and Beauty", "Good Health", "Food and Nutrition", and "Home and Family". Also you can find articles about romance, career, and money matters. The recipes are great in that they are generally time or money saving.

Reader Contributions

A good portion of this magazine is comprised of personal stories from everyday people. Not unlike Epinions.com-I enjoy reading the experiences from people that are essentially my "neighbors". These stories come from all over, and from people in all walks of life.

Woman's World pays anywhere from $50 to $250 for stories that fit varied categories such as:
"Joyful Stories"..."Life Changing Experiences"..."Stories of Hope"..."Precious Memories"..."The Power of Love"..."Miraculous Rescues"..."Special Relationships"..."Special Friendships"...and many more.

In addition, readers are encouraged to send in photos, jokes, brief summaries of embarrassing moments or cute things thier kids say, etc. These, if published pay between $25-$50.

The Extras
*Scattered throughout the pages are inspirational sayings, famous quotes, photos, trivia, etc. These appear to be used as "fillers" in lieu of the usual advertising (Woman's World has extemely minimal advertising-maybe 5 advertisements in the entire issue!)

*"Your Beautiful Baby" is a section dedicated to reader photos of their children.

*"The Mini Mystery"is a short fictional story included in every issue.

*"Celebrity Inspiration"- Every week a celebrity outlines a diet, excercise program, stress relief technique, etc.

*Travel: weekly spotlight on great places to "get away".

*Decorating: Advice and how-to's

*The obligatory Horoscope (eyeroll)

*"Chicken Soup for the Soul" A weekly excerpt from one of the many books available.

*Weekly Crossword puzzle

*"The Last Laugh"- This is always found on the very last page, and I am usually sorry to see it. This is where you find jokes, cartoons, comically titled photos, the "cute things kids say" and "was my face red!".

As long as this review is-I'm sure I've left out plenty. The amazing thing is that Woman's World manages to fit all this-every week, into a magazine so skinny that if you rolled it up and threatened the dog with it, he'd probably just yawn and continue to chew on your high-dollar 4 inch pumps.
