Whirlpool does not stand behind its products

I purchased a new refrigerator in 2003. In 2005 it started rusting out on both the doors and the side panels. It wasn't rusting near the hinges where you might expect it due to condensation.

I emailed customer service and they told me that the warranty only covers the internal parts of the unit. They said that if there was a defect, it would have been apparent within 90 days.

I was amazed that they wouldn't acknowledge that I had a defective paint job on my unit. A 2 year old refrigerator should not have rust all over the outside of it! I can't imagine that anyone would tolerate that.

The "customer loyalty " (what a joke) representative sent me a copy of the company's warranty and a parts list so that I could go and purchase touch up paint.

What do I know about painting a refrigerator? I think the whole thing needs to be sanded, painted and primed in order to correct the situation.

I am so disappointed in them. I would NEVER recommend a purchase from this company to anyone.
