Pros:
A great way to add a phone without adding phone jacks
Cons:
small "cell phone" handset
The Bottom Line:
If you can get past the small size of the handset, it performs very well.

The existence of this product was a major factor in my decision to purchase a VT-2431 2.4ghz phone. I very much like the ability to have 4 handsets running off one phone line.
The handset is exactly identical to the one used for the Vt-2431 base unit. It appears exactly like a cell phone. Some people like that, I personally do not. I would have preferred a larger handset. Unfortunately I bought this phone before there was an explosion of 2.4ghz phones on the market. ...Despite the size, the handset does offer every bit of information you would ever need to know. It has your entire caller ID information along with a call log that lists all the calls you have recently received. From the same screen you can instantly call back the person. The phone also keeps track of frequently called numbers. It also has all the normal collection of speed dial functions.
The base unit is a simple plastic stand with 2 electrodes for charging the phone. You do not need a separate phone jack to use this handset. Simply plug the charging base into any electrical outlet, run through the simple setup procedure...(basically you enter the ID number from the bottom of your VT-241 main phone and the additional handset "finds" the main unit.) after you have gone through the setup routine you never need to do anything special with the phone. Use it just like you would the main handset.
When you have additional handsets installed you also have the ability to "page" other handsets or do a global page to all the handsets and the base unit. I never use it, but I can see how people might find that useful.
It is important to note that the range of the handset needs to be measured from the master base unit and not the additional handset charger unit... so if you install the additional handset very far away from the main base it is possible to have reception problems.
Performance is very good. I have the master unit installed in the basement of my 2 story home...I have the additional handset installed in the second story master bedroom. I can go anywhere in the house without any reception difficulty. I bought a headset microphone to use with the handset (because of the previously mentioned small size of the handset) and I have gotten compliments from people about the sound quality. Most people do not believe I am calling from a cordless phone.
I must say that this is the first cordless phone that I ever liked and it is the first cordless phone that I might consider my "only" phone. I plan to remove the fixed line phone in the kitchen and replace it with an additional handset.
I have had the master unit and the additional handset for about 4 months now and I can say that I am very pleased. If it weren't for the small size of the headset I would consider it a perfect phone for me.
