Author's Review
After shopping around and comparing we finally moved to flat screen Century, actually my husband has been dreaming about these for a while.
At the local store looking at the screens only Sony looked sharper but it had way bigger price tag attached to it. Sales person recommended this model and said that most people have been very happy with it.
This TV weighs about 33 lb and comes with not too big pedestal, it was quick to attach by the store people. They also hooked this TV to my cable box and DVD player and in under 10 minutes the whole setup was done. Instruction tell you many ways you can hook this TV up, you can even use it with your computer if you want to.
So far we are very pleased with our purchase. We watch it in full screen but you can choose your picture size easily by only pushing a remote button if you want to. Some people were complaining about dead pixels but I have not found any in our screen so far.
Sale person told us even before we bought this TV that our picture quality would not be outstanding because our cable provider does not provide high definition. To us our picture quality is still fine, colors look very good in standard setting and my children love watching cartoons with this TV.
You can select from 3 preset modes, sports with brighter more dynamic picture, your standard factory setting (we use that most of the time) or movie mode for lower contrast for darkened room.
I tried the movie mode while we were watching a movie but we do like standard mode better even then. You can always play with your picture quality adjusting contrast, brightness, color and tint to suit your personal likeness.
Audio is good quality, I listen to the CMT quite often and it sounds just fine! You can set parental controls if you want to and of cause there is a sleep timer.
Another great feature about this screen is that there is no glare! We used to always have problems with sun hitting the screen but now this issue is totally gone.
TV came with a cleaning cloth for the screen and so far I have not used any cleaner to clean it, I was reading that you could buy LCD cleaning solution or just mix a little bit alcohol to distilled water to clean your screen.
Only little minus so far is the black surface around the screen, it seems to be total dust magnet! I keep dusting it off every day.
So if you are thinking about buying new TV this fall but do not want to break the bank, put this Toshiba on your list!
