Fantastic Image

I looked at them all before deciding that I did not want any that I found in the stores. Then I discovered Toshiba was coming out with a 10" DVD player with better resolution than their smaller players. No reviews anywhere on the Internet, and no one had them in stock, all on back order. I stopped in to investigate the back order situation at a local Best Buy store and they looked up the model in their computer and found that another Best Buy store had 3 on hand. When I got there, I found only one in a box, none on display so I grabbed it and here I am. I thought, if I didn't like it, I could always return it.

I have tried everything and I can't find anything I don't like about it. One of the reasons I picked this model was the Divx capability as I have DVD/CD's with AVI video. It plays them all. The images could not be clearer, even in the car at mid day. The only thing I noticed, is that if you play it in your car on the internal battery, the image drops down a little in brightness, not a problem unless there is bright sun outside. I finally ran the battery down today, after using it on and off for a week and after seeing more than 2 movies. It claims 6 hours, but that is probably a stretch, figure 3 hours going strong. That's enough anyway unless you are on one of those 8 hour overseas flights.

Features that I miss though, are the progress bar and battery status. It seems to remember the DVD position, if you pause it before shutting down. And you can step to the next track and fast forward to search for a position.

The built in speakers are no better than the other DVD players, but adequate. Good headphones are really the best way to use it. I have a tiny pair of Sony battery operated speakers and they really make a DVD sound good on this player. (for group listening, like showing your home video to several folks)

Finally, you don't need anything with a larger screen. If you do, get a TV.
