Author's Review

Ah yes another Tomb Raider game. I thought they would have ended this series already but no. What was Eidos thinking, I mean come on how many more Tomb Raiders can they make. With each addition to the series I know that I it will not live up to the standards that the first Tomb Raider set. So why you ask did I buy this game. Well, I'm a fan of the series, somehow I got sucked in to the void and have yet to be released.

Well where to start. Overall this game is a improvement on the graphics. TRTLR(in case you're wondering that means Tomb Raider:The Last Revelation, I just made it shorter mainly due to the fact that I'm lazy)has the best in the whole series. Especially during the cinemas. The characters all have smooth skin and the lips move which is a big deal for me. I don't know it makes it more realistic I think so at least. I mean I hate hearing voices and not seeing the lips move. Little details are done better such as Lara now drips water when she gets out of the water. Lara also is looking better mainly due to the fact that they made her move more smoothly. However it has its flaws, as all the characters still have sort of a block shaped head instead of having a nice smooth head. But at least at times they look realistic. Unlike in other Tomb Raider games. Sound wise it's the same as other installments of the series. So I can't really talk or write about it for that matter. The voice acting is nicely done and can't really complain about it. Since none of the characters voices make me want to turn off the volume and get mad at the game.

Control is easy to pick up. If you have played one Tomb Raider then the control is easy to pick up. Wait a minute let me rephrase that. It takes a little time to get used to the Dreamcast controller; well it took me a while, maybe if your smart it's easier to pick up. I kept pressing the crawl button or the look button while I was trying to jump or pull out my guns. Or even press jump while trying to shoot. It got confusing but I finally learned the setup and was good to go. Of course being a Tomb Raider game TRTLV is chalk full of puzzles some of which are down right annoying to solve. But at least it's not like the other Tomb Raider games where one little mistake can cost you your life. But you will die many a times trying to figure out what to do.

Replay value what replay value. I didn't know such a thing was in a Tomb Raider game. Unless you must have all the secrets in the game then there is no replay value. I mean in a game like Resident Evil:Code Veronica at least you get rewarded for doing good that's not the case in TRTLV. I plan on putting it away as soon as I finish with it, which will be very soon. As for the story behind this game well are young heroin has awoken Set, who is bent on destroying everything in his path and it is up to Lara to set things straight. Well she stop him well that's up to you, I won't be around to help you out, most likely I'll be asleep or eating which ever requires less energy.

Eidos needs to just lay Lara Croft to rest and end the series. It was good while it lasted but they just killed the games by overdoing it. How many more Tomb Raiders can I expect to see in my lifetime? Quit while you have some dignity Eidos just quit already. I mean I love the series but a least make a great improvement on the series then release another Tomb Raider game. So who should buy this game well if you're like me and are a fan of it buy it only if you have a desire to own everything that has Lara Croft on it, most of you that have it or are planning on getting will be in for a disappointment. I know I was, actually I don't think anyone should buy it because things should leave on a high note. Hey, look at Police Academy they killed that series and when was the last time you heard anyone talk about that series(other than in this opinion). Yes Tomb Raider will meet that same fate, it's true, it's true.
