The Bottom Line: If your looking for a DVR that can record all your shows and is easy to use, this is it.
TIVO actually upgraded me for a nominal fee about 2 years ago. I have a lifetime membership that is going strong after 8 years. Their service has always been great and very quick to deliver. After having the 80hour Series 2 for 2 years it is starting to show signs of wear. The image is beginning to pixelate and pause occasionally. The 40 hour Series 1 became unwatchable after 5 years so I'm not sure how long this unit is going to last. Overall TIVO is a great optoin for anyone looking for a DVR. After this unit ends it's life I will be purchasing another from them. My friends have other DVR's and complain about service and screwy menu functions. TIVO is easy to use and understand. With no electronics background I was able to set the whole thing up easily and quickly. Having the ability to record whatever, hwenever has definatly freed up my time and I can get more done because I can view TV shows on my schedule. It is sad to say but it changed my life. Best of all... I never have to watch commercials again. TIVO lets me forward through them in about 3 seconds. The remote is so easy to use that I can stop the fast forward option on a dime and resume my show immediately. I really have very little patience for the wasted time so this is a great option. It even rewinds abck about three seconds with one button press. It is a very cool feature. I guess I forgot ot mention that the 80 hours is on the lowest picture quality. If your not a high def. viewwer yet then the image quality is fine, for the first year or two. It will only record about 10 hours at best quality. If that is important to you then spend the money buying a High Def DVR with the longest recordable hours.
