Author's Review

Early this year, my wife and I had purchased two phones from AT&T. They were supposed to be top of the line. We paid just about $200.00 for them. But, as we soon found out the more expensive some thing is, does not necessarily mean that it is the best. The reception was terrible and all kinds of static. We called the phone company and they sent out a repairman several times. They had no luck in finding out what the problem was.

You can find these on line a little lower than what we paid. Amazon.com and amazon market place has these for less than $41.00. But, that does not include shipping and handling. We found ours at Walgreens for $50.00 plus tax.

We have owned several different types of cordless phones over the years. Such as Sony, GE, AT&T among others. There were some that were expensive and some that were cheap. Well, we had thought AT&T being in the phone business that they might have the best phones. When we got tired of messing around with AT&T, and that is when we went to Walgreens. We took these phones home and charged them up, and found them to be better than the phones that we had bought from AT&T. The reception was crystal clear, no static at all.

When you purchase this from Walgreens you get two hand sets, one base, a charging base for the second hand set, two battery packs, one phone cord, two battery covers, two AC power adapters, and one wall mount bracket. These two units are very stylish looking. They are basically silver and white.

This phone is fairly easy to operate. It has a decent size area that houses the buttons. The numbers are large enough to see. Both phones are easy to use and the clarity is crystal clear. You have to let them charge for 16 hours before using them. Plus, after you charge them make sure that you set the secondary hand set in the main base for at least 20 seconds to register it before beginning to use it. If you don't do this the second hand set will not work. The really nice feature about these phones is the fact that you only get one phone cord with it. And why, you ask? Because, you only need one cord for both phones. The second phone also operates off of the main base. These phones have 5.8 GHz technology, this is a two hand set system, plus caller ID, visual ring indicator, the caller ID display will hold up to 40 names and numbers, and 10 memory numbers, the backlight is a LCD, there is a flash function, it is also hearing aid compatible, plus these have a limited one year warranty.

The caller ID display is well lit and of good size, around 1 inch by 2 inches. Just remember, that if you have never had the caller ID service, you will have to call the phone company and pay extra for it to have it activated. Yes folks, it is not free you will have to pay for it. When a call comes in, you will see that person's name and phone number and the date and time plus what number call it is that day. Plus, it will also tell you whether or not that phone call is a new one or a repeat one. You can scroll through as many as 40 numbers before the phone will drop off the oldest number. Both bases have a charging light. When the hand set is in the base it will be lit up to show that it is charging. The main base has a page button, if you press this button, a beep will sound on both phones and there is a light in the upper left corner of each phone that will flash.

Both of these are identical and can be interchanged with the bases. What is really nice about these bases are the fact that they are not that big. The main base is about 4" X 4", and the smaller secondary one is about 2.5" X 3". You can put them just about any where. On the face of these phones what you will see is a talk call back button, a LCD display, delete button, caller ID volume button (up and down), memory button, channel button, # pause ringer button, flash call waiting button, mute menu button, * exit tone button, format transfer button, redial button.

These phones are very easy to use and the battery life is about 7 days, depending on how much you use the phone. When you have a message waiting, the light that tells you that it is being charged will flash until you listen to the message. These phones have features that will come up on the display and they are; blocked call, blocked name and number, delete all, delete caller ID, delete ?, deleted, empty, end of list, enter name, incomplete data, low battery, new, new voice mail, no data, no calls, paging from base, please register, press talk key, ready, rept, transferring, unable to dial, unable to store, unavailable, unknown name caller and number. All of these displays are in the manual and you can see what they mean. There is also an audible beep when the battery needs recharging.

So far we have not had any troubles with any reception. When we go out side near any wires, it is still crystal clear no static what so ever. There is no speaker phone so you will always have to keep it to your ear. There are a lot of features on this phone that we have not used yet. But, the ones that we have used, worked properly.

I would rate this on a 1-10 scale a 8. This is not bad for the money. I would highly recommend this phone to any one that is tired of paying that high price for a good phone. It is very nice to have the convenience to be able to put either phone on either charger and not to worry about. Plus the fact that you can go down stairs or out side at the back of your yard and still get good reception.
