This book is so packed with wonderful information and lists of all kinds that it is about to burst. As a Literacy Tutor of delayed-reading adults I use it constantly. I no longer have to go searching all over the place but have many things right at my fingertips.
There is a good synopsis of phonics guidelines; a wonderful list of the top 1000 most common words a person needs to know how to read and spell. I use this list every single day. Historical roots of words, entire lists of prefixes/suffixes, content-area vocabulary, synonyms, adjectives, story starters. analogies, irregular verbs. Whew! I'm out of breath!!!!! Besides I'd better save some surprises for you! Well, with almost 500 pages worth I'm sure you'll find plenty more for you and your students to use and enjoy!
I would not be without this book. i stumbled over it quite by accident at the bookstore, and it is truly one of the best accidents of my teaching career.
No, I don't have stock in this publisher's company or anything. But I do have stock in the minds of the students I teach--and that is worth so much to me. This tool will be such a big help to you in accomplishing your goals for them!
