Author's Review

The pigman

I remember back in the 7th grade when my assignment was to read this book, a book called the pigman. I remember myself thinking, what the hell the pigman? And remember referring to the book with such words as stupid, dumb, and even gay. (Hey I was in 7th grade; you’re not very mature at this age)

Anyway I reluctantly went home and opened the book. I read the first couple pages, and again the same thoughts that ran through my head when I received the book, again ran through my head now. This is stupid! But it must be read, so again I reluctantly picked the book up off my desk, and preceded to read it.
It didn’t take long for me to actually get into book, and by this point I found it hard to put down.

Ok now I haven’t read the book for a while, so if I’m wrong in any way about this please email me and let me now and try not to make a big deal, because whatever mistakes I make here were because I forgot the little details of the book. However I pretty much remember the basic plot of the book, and I doubt ill be leaving out anything of importance.

The story starts off with a girl, and a boy who are friends. Both of them enjoy playing prank phone calls and prank this man, who is referred to as the pigman. I’m not positive if it was guilt or something else that made them go to his house and get to know him.

Anyway what matters is that they did get to know him, and realized what a sweet old man he was, and they fell in love with him. They did have their differences, and bad moments, but when the kids did do something wrong, they felt very bad, and overwhelmed with guilt that they helped him out afterwards.

All in all I must say that when I handed the book back to my teacher, no longer did words like gay or stupid escape my mouth, however now words such as wonderful, and surprisingly great and touching left my mouth.
I am glad I was forced to read this book, because if I wasn’t, I would never have even thought about this masterpiece of a book.
