Author's Review
Yes, I do not have a lot of money. Like you haven't heard this one before. And yet, I still manage to scrape together the $50 I pay annually for my TIME magazine subscription. Why? Simply put, I find more value for my money in a magazine than in the other news sources I have available.
It is not the fact that TIME is written in a distinctive liberal prose. Nor the fact that the pictures are enthralling, memorable, and in some instances worth more than a thousand words. It is the fact that I enjoy the articles and how they are written. You can feel the humanity of the writer in them, the feelings of the person as you peruse the literature. Even the chauvanistic Mr. Stein has a humorous tinge, even though the testosterone dripping from his weekly commentary is downright nauseating.
Now, I have to admit first that I pay a discounted student rate. The weekly cover price of TIME is $3.50, and this roughly makes the subscription price $182, if you purchase at the full cover price. Now lets discuss the various ways to save money. There is a Professional Rate, which is very close to the price I pay, $50 annually. If you are a business professional, I highly recommend asking for this rate.
When you subscribe, I also recommend asking for the free gift. While nothing overly spectacular, they generally send you something interesting, and is worth saving. I recently received a TIMELife 1950's in Review book. Pretty neat, seeing things I would not normally see. TIME also offers a payment plan, although I recommend paying those installments in a speedy manner, as they will enact collection notices very quickly after you are late. I cannot say I blame them, as they are surely aware that they have a lucrative enterprise. Yes, Time Warner AOL is a beautiful example of the media world.
Simply put, if you want a quality news magazine, that provides in-depth coverage, humorous views, interesting commentary, and pictures that will astound, amaze, and in some instances rip the very emotional soul from your body, subscribe to TIME. I guarantee you will like it. I warn you: some of the articles are not for the weak of heart. Graphic, real, and refreshingly honest, I assure you that they will do nothing less than move you.
