The last great sidekick
Date of Review: Feb 19, 2009
The Bottom Line: Like prior two sidekicks with features. Only have a few new upgrades but useful ones. Worth it if you text and aim allot
This phone was released with big praise in the summer of 2007 and in Los Angeles there were lines going around the corner to get the new sidekick. Was it worth the wait? I had mixed feelings about the phone because I owned the last two sidekicks and was wondering what can possibly added on. When the phone arrived I was first fixed on the sleek design. The first sidekick was fat like a brick but short also the functions overshadowed the size. The second sidekick was longer sleeker and thinner. The interesting thing about the sidekick 2 is that unlike the first one having the screen pointing outward the sidekick 2 had the screen sink into the phone that made it look more complete but this sidekick was white in and had a sort of plastic look the paint on the unit would chip off if you drop your phone. The sidekick 3 changed all of that. The sidekick 3 was shorter and also thinner than the sidekicks before it. The phone also had a metal finish look on the edges that made it look more sturdy and durable. The screen sunk in like the sidekick 2. Improvements that stand out most are the small MP3 player but with a chip you can upgrade the space. The camera is better not too much better but a good improvement. I would have to say one of the best changes that the phone has is the removable battery. The past two sidekicks didn’t have a removable battery. This is good because if the battery dies on the prior two sidekicks you would either have to send your phone to tmobile and receive a refurbished one or they would replace the battery of yours. No setbacks with a removable battery. The battery can be bought at any cell store another great thing is the new keyboard. The keyboard is not like the priors the sidekick 2 had a nasty rubber keyboard in which I had to replace because it tore off unexpectedly and the sidekick 1 had a better than second sidekick keyboard but was still rubber. The Sidekick 3 has a non rubber plastic keyboard that to will never have problems with. The phone is an all around improvement from the prior two. One problem I did have when I had this phone was the little ball scroller on the right side of the front of the phone. The scroller is not sturdy if it gets a little wet then say hello to the left side scroller and goodbye to the right one.
