I wanted to build a my Home Theater system with a price limit of /- $1000. So that meant my amp had to have a price point under $500 with features that I needed. This amp fits that bill with "1080P HDMI 1.2a Video Switching" and all the extra sound fields you will probably never need. Lots of power for my room size and sufficient HD inputs. Keep in mind that at this price point, we are not concerned about video up conversion features as that will put us into the $1000 price point area just for the amp...
I am basically just using this Receiver for the HDMI video inputs and any other HD switching, like my component sources, are utilizing the audio pcm digital input terminals only such as "Coax" or "Optical".
The receiver has an "Auto Calibration" feature which seems to work quite well, but I still tweaked mine manually...just because. There is no "OSD" other than the display on the unit, but once you get into the manual and learn the process, it's enough and does get intuitive to use, just not at first...and you don't need it all the time anyways.
There are no "S-Video" ports, but I didn't care because all my sources are HD. Some people may still require these but it does have "Composite" ports. Also, I wish it had 3 Optical ports instead of 2 as both mine are full now so my next source will have to use the Coax port. The remote is very good and can be programed to operate your TV. I have this receiver and the Harman Kardon HKTS18 speaker system and it's a perfect match for power and sound. The piano black speaker system matches my "Sharp LC46D82U" finish and my HD PS3 / XBOX360 gaming is pure bliss...
