A very handy/convenient item for advanced computer users.

If you are building your own computer, you must consider installing removable hard drive bays. They are cheap, convenient, and very useful if you want to be creative.

I use my computer for many different purposes, from gaming, to school work, to my dad's business work, to extensive video editing. As one can expect, this requires many different types of software programs, and many different types of memory usage.

With non-removeable hard drives, your system can easily become convoluted and fragmented from the mixture of games, productivity applications, and media files constantly being created, edited, and then deleted to make room for more.

With removeable hard drives, on a two-hard drive system, you can have one be your OS/Commons application software, and additional hard drives to store your video editing files, gaming applications, and business applications. This way, everything is neat, organized, and separate.

If you are an advanced computer user, I'm sure you can see the benefits of having these capabilities (if you have multiple computers, transferring massive amounts of data between them becomes simple if both are equipped with removable hard drive bays). In fact, if you are an advanced computer user, you most likely have already begun to think up of other, better uses for removable hard drive bays than I have.

In any case, these are a must have for those of you who use your computer for a variety of operations, or operate multiple computers.

Sometimes the removable hard drive tray's fan can get old or bent out of shape and may start making a LOT of noise. I remedied this problem by simply cutting out the fans. For hard drives 7200 rpm's and below, the heat dissipates just fun without the fans.

Even intermediate computers users can benefit from removable hard drives when hard drive upgrades are needed.
