More than you expect

I have a pair of Rockford-Fosgate 10" sub boxes and needed something that would give'm the juice they required (200 watts rms each). 

Installation: This was my first time installing something like this. I coughed up the money for a good quality wiring kit from Kicker. Really made things a breeze. The instructions are simple and easy to understand. The connections are sturdy and the unit comes with the correct hex-key wrenches you need . I hid the amp under the seat and used one of the seat mounting bolts for the ground and it works just fine.

Performance: I coudn't be more impressed. Crisp, clear, wonderful sound. You really wouldn't even know it's there if it weren't for the wall of sound enveloping you. I listen to many different types of music and this amp compliments everything very well. The subs respond to heavy bass beats with excellent response and "punch" and when you listen to solo piano or acoustic guitar you can almost smell the wood and steel in the sound! I'm only running the gain at about 1/2 and the unit runs crystal clear and hasn't even gotten warm so I'm not too concerned about overheating.

The initial setup and "tuning" of the unit is a little involved. Quite a few controls to color the sound to your liking. This is where I took some time and listened to lots of different music with a phillips screwdriver in hand to adjust things as needed. Still a work in progress. Wonderfully versatile piece of equipment honestly.

Came with a bass level remote unit that is hooked to the amp with a telephone type cord. Makes fine tuning bass levels a snap. However, there is a blue LED light on the remote part of the base level unit that is quite bright. This WILL be intrusive if mounted on the dash facing you. Why they made it so bright I have no idea. I put this control under the seat so that it shines onto the floorboard. Looks pretty cool at night. I have read where others have painted over this light or covered it completely.

So far I haven't had any issues with lights dimming or other power drains on my system from this amp. The truck has a 36 year old V-8 with a standard alternator and seems to keep up just fine. I did, however, upgrade the positive terminal connection on my battery since it looked a bit "tired" already.

Overall a great amp for the money.
Did I go for the extra warranty coverage above the 1 year manufacturers? Nah. Thing seems built like a tank. 
Would I buy another one if this one eventually fails? You betcha!
