Better than the Movie - which was good.

The book Practical Magic takes you places the movie could not go. It absolutely should be read before seeing the movie since it will compliment the performances of Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman. You can actually get into these characters heads and much more of their younger years are explored. On top of that the characters are more distinct in the book, often a movie must cram too much information in too quickly. The minor characters, Gary Hallet, The Aunts, are more thoroughly examined or explained. Also Gillian (Nicole Kidman's character) is redeemed in the book more than she is in the movie. I like the ending of the movie better than the book but we can't always have exactly what we want now can we? The hints and tricks revealed in the book are absorbing and Alice Hoffman is now a favorite of mine.
