What did Pioneer actually Pioneer that is worth mentioning, particularly in this review?
.

.
.
They Pioneered the Worlds first car component system way back in 1975 & also the worlds first car CD player in 1984. Hence the worlds first car CD player was born in 1984 (so was I).
That's something you cannot choose to ignore - Not if its your hard-earned money.
I had been with a Czech friend of mine to review a second hand Volvo he came across in the classifieds & ended up reviewing the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT that was in the car.
Too bad for Dmitri that the owner wasnt willing to part with the system, Good for us that we get to know the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT
at the loss of Dmitri.
Guess that idolizes the old saying One mans loss is another mans gain. Ha ha ha!!! :-D
PS: My ratings for each DOP (Department Of Performance) is in consistence with the price category, so it means that a $2000 system with a 2/5may still sound better than a $200 system with a 5/5.

****SOUND QUALITY [4.5/5]****

The 4 X 22 W RMS should be more than enough for a normal human being listening to music inside a car, unless you are more interested in a Neighbourhood Windows Demolition Drive.
The bass I would say was well rounded with almost no grunts & had quite a robust density Something youd enjoy if you had fine taste for quality of bass rather than loudness of bass. Moisture in the bass was typical for music than for movies. So dont expect the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT to perfrom like a home theater, although I would say that the performance is something you would not crib with while in a car & definitely not while driving.
So for all practical purposes the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT is as good for movies as it is for music. Personally speaking, Id advise you not to watch movies in a car Definitely not while driving. It aint worth it except while in long traffic jams then you can really juice out the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT & stay ALIVE too!
Bass performance was flawless till 80% volume after that the performance somewhat deteriorated. But dont worry, this is perfectly normal for a sub $10,000 system. There are car stereos at the same price that wont perform good at even 70% volume, so the Pioneer DEH-P7900BTs performance at 80% volume is an ADDED BONUS.
Mids were striking in their fullness yet not overbearing. Thats what I like in the Pioneer Signature Sound than in Sony where the mids quite overtake other frequencies. Male voices retained their masculine quality while female voices sounded as sweet as they are & as they should. Choruses were especially wonderful to hear in their magnificence. Overall the mids where doing what they should do Stay in between.
Treble was quite a chilling effect at high volumes. Not much I can say here, but they do reproduce the faintest of sounds usually lost in music to quite an effect, although not as good as the more expensive stereos, yet quite a deal for sub $500 stereos.
I would say as long as you dont crave for Icy chill, Sharp as a blade, fatally electrifying treble The Pioneer DEH-P7900BT is the one for YOU.
The DEH-P7900BT has Built-in Bluetooth Wireless Technology along with Direct Control for your iPod.
The system has a Pure Blue OEL display, SAT Ready and the capability of playing back formats such as AAC, MP3, WMA and WAV. So you should not have much problems playing downloaded music.
Movie experience was quite ok being in a car. It is not something you can go into great detail since the stereo is not specialised in that field & since you dont have a large enough display to really examine anything. So you can take movies for granted.
I suggest you not to judge a movie by experiencing it in a car. Please note that I use the word experience & not watch.

****AESTHETICS [5/5]****

Its quite a good looking stereo with all the flashy lights & eye catching LCD graphics. Personally Id rather not have any lights on the stereo at all cos it distracts during night driving & even more when watching movies. I only wish Pioneer would have given a Lights OFF option.
Otherwise, its quite a sexy car stereo at $300, quite a reasonable deal At least I cant complain
at this price.

****BUILD QUALITY [4/5]****

The Pioneer DEH-P7900BT comes across as a quite sturdy system, although dont expect it to survive intense car-crashes (Its more important that YOU survive).
Tap tests did give positive responses, the plastic part is strong enough to survive daily wear & tear for a pretty long time. However it is wise to be on your guard, after all it costs precious money.

****EASE OF USE [5/5]****
__________________________
Ill make this simple & to the point.
If you can handle a mobile phone, computer, PDA & an iPOD handling a Pioneer DEH-P7900BT is like breathing.
Buttons are obvious & you dont even need the manual to operate the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT. Unless you are facing electronic gadgets for the first time in your life!

****MY OPINION****
___________________
This is an economy model and it performs quite robustly in its price range. It only lacks a steering wheel remote for controlling the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT while keeping your hands on the steering wheel.
I think you might get it as an accessory, though I am not very sure about that & I did not see it in the car. So Ill be frank about that.
So if you have a well balanced taste in music & dont care for neighbourhood demolishing bass or ear piercing treble AND if you are more interested in listening to music at listenable volume levels & actually enjoying the music AND if you are not cribbing for the lack of a steering wheel remote Then the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT is something you can very well consider buying unless you are willing to spend about $100 more.

PS: Id recommend you play melodious tracks on the Pioneer DEH-P7900BT, if you really want to appreciate its music reproduction capability. For playing romantic numbers during a date ITS PERFECT.
