Cons:
The menus are not as intuitive as they could be. A little expensive.
The Bottom Line:
I waited too long to get this. It is a great unit and well worth the cost.

Having owned my Wrangler for 4 years, I have continually been upgrading pieces along the way. One of the areas I have played with is the sound coming from my stereo. At some point I upgraded the speakers in my sound bar with some Pioneer 200W units, but they really did not sound a lot better then the factor speakers. I even put pillow stuffing behind them as I read it would help to bring out the bass, but it did not help. I figured I was just going to have to live with a flat sounding system that bottomed out when I turned up the volume.
Then I got the itch. With summer coming soon I wanted to have better sound with the top down. I knew there had to be a way without turning the back-end of my Jeep into one big speaker. I figured it was worth a try to upgrade the head unit. This was one of the best upgrades that I have done. This Pioneer unit was amazing. I now have bass (with no sub-woofer). The sound is so full it is un-real. My Pioneer speakers now sound GREAT. If you heard of those commercials from living in black and white and moving to color, it is just like that. It is a whole new sense of sound. Pioneer did a great job on this unit.
Installation was a snap. I got the unit off of E-Bay. I ordered a wire harness from Crutchfield. The harness came with very complete instructions on how to hook things up. It took me about 1 hour for the entire job. I did solder the hardness instead of crimping, but I think crimping would work just as well (if your not sure how to do this, read the directions that come with the harness from Crutchfield before you start). Once the old unit was out, I plugged in the harness attached the two mounting screws and WOW. I had sound. The other thing great about this unit is it has a perfect fit from where the Jeep factory unit came from. The 1.5 DIM is made for this car.
If there is a short coming from the unit it is the menus are not as intuitive as they could be. I have seen this on many Pioneer things that I have owned. Something as simple as setting the clock took me 20 pages into the manual to figure out. That being said, how many times do you have to set the clock verses listening to awesome sounds?
If you have been thinking about getting this unit I would give two thumbs up and tell you to go for it. You will love what you hear.
