Ping Pals for Nintendo DS
Date of Review: Dec 5, 2005
The Bottom Line: Wouldn't recommend it for someone over 14. Would be great to keep kids busy.
Collect, Trade, Play!
If you had been a fan of Tamagotchi, Gigapets or Neopets, and is a fan of Nintendogs... and is very patient with everyday-play games, this is one of the games for you.
You start off with creating an avatar of your choice (boy or girl) and you can make this character as unique as you are... in time. There are hundreds of head, body, hair and eye color and style combinations and you will have access to accessories for your character. This includes hats, caps, sunglasses, shirts, coats, etc.
There are different items at the item store everyday. On holidays (like Christmas), holiday-themed items are available. From Santa hats to reindeer horns to clown noses. The choice is yours.
You can also customize the theme of your wallpaper, background music and the FX sound.
Of course, you would have to play mini-games or talk to a virtual mentor to get money you can use to buy more accessories, combinations and themes.
You can send message via the on-screen keyboard feature or via stylus. If you have a friend with a DS but doesn't have this game, the wireless feature allows both players to text message each other and play Hot Potato. Of course, your friend's/friends' avatar is going to be an alien, but hey, they should have gotten the game.
