philosophy the supernatural lip gloss A Little Too Frosty
Pros:
sticky so it lasts longer, minty smell, looks great layered
Cons:
very frosty, limited colors, difficult to apply
The Bottom Line:
It wears well and has a refreshing minty scent, but it's too frosty with limited color choices. I'd recommend sampling before purchasing if possible.

Author's Review
I bought this on a splurge. I wanted to buy something I would probably never consider buying. I was at drugstore.com looking through pages and pages of beauty products. I had no idea what I was looking for. I just wanted something. I came across the philosophy brand and decided this would be a good time to give them a try. I have tried a number of bath and shower products of theirs, but never any makeup or skin care. I came across The Supernatural Lip Gloss and was immediately interested. What woman wouldn't want a gloss that was supernatural? I made my color selection and added it to the cart. I could not wait for it to arrive. Read on to see if this gloss truly is as "super" as it claims.
About the Product
no time to floss, just gloss! our supernatural lip gloss was created to provide a gloss that shines, moisturizes, and conditions lips- all with a minty fresh flavor. this high density formula is far more substantial than what you would expect from a gloss.
You need this product if:
- your goal is to look more natural, more youthful
- you want mistake proof color
- you want soft, irresistible lips with perfect color
- you want a gloss substantial enough to replace a lipstick

Price and Packaging
This gloss comes in a small frosted plastic tube with a black screw on lid. Attached to the lid is the application wand. The tube is rather plain except for the words "the supernatural. philosophy- natural is super".
The tube contains .21 oz. of gloss and costs $15. This is a complete splurge item in my opinion. It's not a "must have" gloss, but it's a fun one to own if you like the color. You can purchase at Sephora stores or online at sephora.com, drugstore.com, or philosophy.com.
Color Selection
philosophy offers this gloss in 7 color choices. They are all very simple colors.
mauve, ruby, pink, rose, gold, white, nude
I chose gold because it was the only warm toned color. The gold looked like a rich warm nude both on the website and in the tube. It's not bright scary gold like you may be picturing.
Ingredients
Polybutene, Mineral Oil, Lanolin Oil, Triisostearyl Trilinoleate, Isopropyl Palmitate, Propylparaben, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Propylene Carbonate, Mica, Silica Silylate, Fragrance, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxide Yellow, Iron Oxide Red, Tocopheryl Acetate, Carmine, Iron Oxide Black
My Experience
When I first applied, I immediately noticed 2 things. The first thing was the pleasant minty scent. It's not super strong, but it's enough for your mouth to feel refreshed.
The other thing I noticed was the extreme amount of frost in this gloss. I was very surprised by the frost. No where in the description does philosophy mention a frosty finish. I was expecting maybe a subtle shimmer, but no, I got major frost! My lips were looking very pale, almost to the point of looking white.
I was a little disappointed. I purchased the gold knowing it was going to be more of a nude, natural color. The frost made it a little too light for my skin tone. Maybe other colors would look better or be less frosty. Unfortunately, there aren't any other colors that would work with my skin tone.
Putting this gloss on is a little tricky because it's very sticky. (Ha! I made a rhyme!) I don't mind sticky glosses because it usually means it has good staying power, but if you don't like sticky glosses, you should definitely avoid this one. It does take a little more effort to apply the gloss evenly. Because it is so sticky, it doesn't go on as smoothly or evenly as a slicker gloss might.
Once it's on, it has pretty good staying power. I have only wore this a couple times alone because I can't really wear the color. It has lasted about 3 hours on my lips without eating or drinking. That's pretty good for a gloss. Normally I layer another color on top of it and it doesn't last quite as long. I have found that I can put glosses that are very dark or bright over top and get a beautiful, lighter, shimmery look. I have a couple glosses that I never wore because they were too bright or dark. Now I get to use them paired with philosophy the supernatural lip gloss. The frost really makes other glosses look gorgeous. I am talking absolutely incredible. It's the only reason I keep wearing this gloss. I have yet to acheive this shimmery look any other way except by layering this gloss with another one.
Final Thoughts
I am torn about my feelings on this gloss. On one hand, I like the minty scent, the staying power, and the layered look I can get. On the other hand, it is very sticky, somewhat difficult to apply, and too frosty to wear alone with a limited color selection. I'm going to give it 3 stars because I think it is a decent gloss, but not everyone will like it.
