Great for the travelling family

We recently took a two day van trip to FL from OH and our 5 year old (along with the two dogs) came along. I know it sounds like a blast . . . .
I had a full spindle of DVDs for out little one to watch when he got bored and wouldn't you know it our old Sony portable DVD player decided to die after the first day.
Needless to say we were at Best Buy first thing the next morning and bought this DVD player.

One big selling point was that this included the car power adapter. Sure we had a DC/AC inverter but it is nice to just plug in the power adapter directly into the port on the van. Everything worked fine and the player read a variety of discs without issue.
The screen flips around into a tablet like mode which hides the controls but looks pretty cool. The sound is pretty good and comes out of two speakers below the screen, so when it is in tablet mode you still have good sound. There are a variety of ports on the side, the coolest is TWO headphone jacks. This can be quite cool for two people to watch a video at once.

The remote control sits in a cavity that will also hold a video iPod. We haven’t tried it yet but it looks like a neat feature. If the unit is plugged into an AC power supply it will also charge your iPod while you use it (pretty cool).

They claim a 2.5 hour battery life from a fully charged battery but all our time was spent plugged into the car power adapter so I can’t speak on battery life.
The picture was good enough, although I wish someone would make a high resolution screen that looks great. But for $190 I guess I can’t complain, I could always pull out my Sony laptop and watch videos on a really great screen (kind of an expensive portable DVD player though).

Our little guy was quite happy and we were VERY happy that it kept him entertained on the long road trip.

Overall we are very satisfied.
