Author's Review
I simply love this magazine. It has a very clear and pleasing layout, and is arranged in such a way that it is easy to locate information that pertains to the age/stage of your child/children.
Some of my favorite features in Parenting magazine are the family-friendly recipes, the Dr. Sears question and answer column, and the fact that every month, there is at least one fairly major article on each stage baby- or childhood; pregnancy, infants, toddlers, school-age, etc. There is also a great column in which readers can write in with questions/problems and other readers supply suggestions and feedback. I think sometimes the best advice comes from regular everyday parents---they are the true experts!
Another invaluable feature is a short monthly article devoted to mom's beauty, focusing on hairstyles and makeup tips that make life easier for on-the-go moms.
The only reason I don't subscribe to Parenting is that I work at a bookstore and can either buy it at a discount or get an issue for free when a new issue comes in.
Here's a tip: This magazine has great photos of the cutest babies and kids. Cut out the pictures from Parenting (and other parenting magazines) and glue or tape them into a notebook. Use this with your baby or toddler to point out different baby aspects and skills.....eating, drinking, bathing, playing, etc. Babies and toddlers love to look at pictures of other babies. Don't waste your money on books with cute baby photos.....make your own!
