Author's Review
I've used electronic organizers before. Or, more accurately, I've owned electronic organizers before, but didn't really use them. The problem was that those organizers made it so difficult to enter and retrieve my information that it became easier just to write everything down in a paper organizer.
Then I got the Palm Vx. This little device has made my life easier in so many ways. First of all, information is simple to enter in after you learn the Grafitti handwriting interface, and that took me about a day. Once that's done, information is only a tap away. The four major applications (Schedule, Address Book, To-do List, and Memo Pad) are on buttons at the bottom that are very easy to access.
Scheduler can be set with alarms that go off when I need to be reminded of something (which is pretty often, given my occasionally flaky memory). Memo pad I use most often; it's better than a random piece of paper for notes, because it's always legible and you never need to search for a pen.
What's really nice about the Vx is that it's extremely thin, so I can fit it in my pocket alongside my wallet. Also, the Vx is more expensive than, say, the IIIxe, but given the way the amount of time I spend using my Vx, I save the money on batteries, since the Vx has lithium ion rechargable batteries built in, rather than the AAA's that the III needs.
All in all, the Palm has made my life a lot easier and much more organized. Instead of having little notes all over the place, everything I need is in one place. If you're considering a Palm, and you have the extra money, consider the Vx. The extra features it has (plus the fact that it just plain looks cool) is worth the extra money, in the long run.
