2006 Nissan Altima 2.5s

I have been very pleased with my Altima over the past couple years. I purchased it in February 2006. I have the 2.5s version with an automatic transmission. I also had a 2003 Altima 2.5sl which I loved.

The exterior of the car was freshned up for 2005, I dont know if I like it as much as the 2002-2004 look but it still looks very nice. One complaint about the exterior is the door handles I wish they were like that of the camry's. The wheels that are offered on the altima are very nice. I even like the bottom of the line ones on the 2.5.

The interior was also freshened up for 2005. I like the look of the center stack a lot better than that of the 2002-2004. The interior layout is well organized. Everything is at arms reach and were supossed to be. The materials though are another story. I do not like the faux metal trim that is placed throughout the car. It looks and feels unpleasent. The seats are very comfortable though and are good for long trips. The rear seat is very roomy and can fit an 2 adults comfortably. The fold down armrest with cupholders is very nice. One complainnt I have is the quietness it is very intrusive at about 40 mph and up.

Storage is very plentiful throughout the car from the deep cup holders to the big trunk. The only thing I dont like is the intrusive hinges in the trunk, it does offer a bigger opening to the trunk but if there is something in the way of the hinges it will get crushed. In my opinion the strut hinges used on many new cars looks a lot nicer.

The 2.5L I-4 is sufficient on power. It is one of the best 4-cylinder engines made. It is more powerful than the Accord and Camry's 4-cylinders. The transmission is only a 4 speed rather than a 5 speed that is used in some other mid-size sedans but it is very smooth. Fuel efficiency is very good. I average about 26 on Regular with mixed highway and city driving. The ride is very smooth with not a lot of jarring over bumps.

I paid about $21,000 which is really not bad considering I have had no trouble with the car. I would definetly buy another Altima again in fact I am looking at the new Altimas and am looking to get one soon.
