Nikon; Just a great product.

I purchased the Nikon Coolpix L3 as my first digital camera purchase. I previously owned a Nikon and had it for twenty years before allowing it to retire. I was given an HP 3 mega pixel camera from a relative that broke within 6 months so I made my first informed purchase a NIKON.

Pros: I think the picture quality is quite good. I printed out 4X6 and 8X10 photos, each looking like they were printed from a photo shop. The right paper has a lot to do with how good a photo looks. Even printed on copy paper, the photos were good, but, I certainly suggest a photo paper that goes with your printer. The camera is light-weight; easy to use, once you figure out all of the ins and outs of it. I have had no problem with the flash. It is easy to turn off or on. It has a menu including sports shots, so if your subject moves while taking the picture, use sport shot and it will not come up blurry. You have many choices between portrait, sports, landscape, night portrait, sunset, backlight etc. I have been especially impressed with the night portrait. I turned off all the lights, pitch black, and took a photo. It looked great! That sold me on this camera. I use rechargeable batteries in my camera. I charge two while I have two in the camera so I am never caught without fresh batteries on hand. The batteries last and last shot after shot! The view screen is large and impressive. Perfect to view your shots. The camera will inform you if the picture is fuzzy and you can choose to keep or delete. It is easy to view or delete old or unwanted photos. The price could not be beat for the quality of the camera and the photos.

Cons: There is a bit of a shutter lag problem. After taking a picture, you have to wait for up to 10 seconds before taking another which means you could miss a great shot. This is really not a great problem for me as I usually use the camera for still photos. However, if you want to capture your child playing sports or something of that kind where there is a lot of action, it can be a bit annoying to have to wait to get another shot.

All things considered, I would certainly purchase another digital Nikon camera.
