Is this camera for real?

by  colonialpara ,  Dec 12, 2006
71 out of 72 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Small, light weight, beautifully realized images. Price Point.
Cons: Inability to AF with all Nikon lenses. Consumer quality build.
The Bottom Line: For the absolute beginner or someone who wants more features than those in a point and shoot.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: The Nikon D40 with 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 AF-S AF lens is this company's bare bones entry level offering in the extremely volatile digital SLR market. As the two giants of the industry, Canon and Nikon vie for an ever increasing slice of the dSLR pie,...

The Right Printer, The Right Price

by  royalcrowncola ,  Apr 11, 2006
35 out of 35 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Nice looking printer. Small footprint on desk.
Cons: A bit noisy.
The Bottom Line: Need a good cheap printer/scanner/copier for your home office? This is the one to get.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: I don t know about you, but for me shopping for a new printer can be a stressful, confusing experience. I found myself standing among several rows of counters filled with printers of nearly every size and conceivable function. Hewlett-Packard...

The dSLR that thinks it's a point and shoot

by  solohans1 ,  Apr 15, 2007
27 out of 27 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Easy to use for entry level dSLR user, lens kit included, much more
Cons: D40 is bare bones for dSLR, but has the stuff for any entry level enthusiast.
The Bottom Line: I recommend this for it's ease of use and outstanding image quality. It's lightweight and looks good too!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review:
BEFORE WE BEGIN

There are a lot of reviews on the web for the Nikon D40 and I will list some of the sites I recommend at the end of my review. Most of these reviews come from the perspective of a professional photographer and...

Really nice photos in an easy to use machine.

by  drpiet ,  Dec 28, 2006
16 out of 16 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Quality, size, photos, price, etc, etc
Cons: You'll love it so much, that your next purchase will be a new Hard Drive.
The Bottom Line: If you are asking yourself if there is something better than the last point and shoot you bought, buy this camera and more photo albums!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Sorry nikonians or nikonistas or whatever your name is, but if you are a professional photographer this review is not for you, and neither probably the camera

I always used point a shoot cameras, for my family s trips, parties and some...

Excellent Printer, Inkjet technology has come a long way!

by  bg357 ,  Mar 6, 2006
16 out of 16 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Very attractive, Beautiful print quality, Easy-to-use, Economical Ink, Canon reputation.
Cons: Small display, Only one paper tray, shows dust.
The Bottom Line: Excellent choice in an All-in-One printer. Far exceeded my expectations!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: We were recently in the market for a new printer after several years of a black & white HP laser printer that had terrible feeding problems. Prior to the laser, I had had an early Canon bubblejet printer. I hadn't been too impressed with that...

Nikon sells a D200 for $700 less!

by  sailingshot ,  Sep 5, 2006
16 out of 16 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Same RAW quality, better JPEGs than D200 for 700 dollars less!Beautiful finder as well.
Cons: A bit small without optional grip, "only" 3FPS, no metering of manual lenses
The Bottom Line: For most folks (they might not want to admit it!), the D80 is more camera than they'll ever need and then some.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: This is my UPDATED review of the D80. Sadly, some members gave me a "somewhat helpful" rating which made this review only "somewhat viewable." This happened even though I clearly said it was a bit of a teaser until I could give a more comprehensive...

Small, and easy, and just too fun to use, the Nikon D40.

by  vincedog3 ,  Jul 1, 2007
15 out of 15 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Light,Small, great for beginners especially.Great second body too.
Cons: Auto focus with AF-S and AF-I lenses only. Half step ISO,limited functionality for experienced.
The Bottom Line: This Nikon is important to anyone looking for a great starter/basic DSLR. Canon's Xt has now got some great competition, and that makes it better for everyone.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Firstly this is the camera replacement for the venerable D50. Primed before release to be called the "D60" Nikon decided instead on the "D40" name.

Accordingly announced on November16,2006, it steps up to the plate to go squarely against...

Nikon D80 ...a new standard!

by  gregepin04 ,  Sep 21, 2006
15 out of 15 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Top quality and a good price
Cons: uses a different memory card from the previous D70 model. Bummer.
The Bottom Line: Get it! No question, the best bargain on high quality.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: As a professional photographer, I tend to use a lot of cameras. The Nikon D80 is a superb creation and a big step up from the D70(which is a great camera in itself).

The D80 body is actually lighter than the D70! That is wonderful if you...

On par or better than the competition

by  kocho ,  Apr 30, 2007
15 out of 15 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Compact body, bright and large viewfinder, easy to use, decent low-light performance
Cons: Matrix Metering *different* than other Nikons like D70s or D200
The Bottom Line: D80 is probably the best offering Nikon has at the moment, dollar for dollar. D40 and D200 are next (below and above it). Matrix Metering and ISO1600 notwithstanding, great camera!
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: EDIT 7/13/2007. I've learned some more since I wrote this review, particularly in terms of noise performance of the current Nikon offerings. Most sites will show JPG noise performance out of camera in default settings. When compared this way, the...

A D200 in a D50 body - all for under a grand!

by  jemaer_rf ,  Sep 10, 2006
14 out of 14 people found this review helpful.
Pros: Incredible feature set for the price: 10.2MP, instant start-up, fast 0.8ms shutter response and more!
Cons: Grip might be too small for some, Nikon Capture is extra.
The Bottom Line: Highly recommended. Nikon borrowed extensively from the D200 parts bin to come up with a lot of camera for less than $1000.
This reviewer recommends this product.
Review: Introduction and background
I consider myself an avid photographer. My main interest in photography are people, landscapes, and travel. I was into film SLRs but I gravitated towards the more sophisticated point and shoot cameras for the...
