Nikon Micro-Nikkor AF-S 105mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR

Pros: Very nice optics, VR, AFS, better build than most others.

Cons: Expensive, VR not too useful for macro, can't match bokeh/sharpbess of Tamron 90.

The Bottom Line: You really can't go wrong with this lens and there's no other like it on the market.

Here we have what appears to be a made-in-heaven lens from Nikon combining thier excellent 105 2.8 with 9 blades for better bokeh (out of focus rendering) and (gulp!) VR!!!

Well, let's cut to the chase. Is this lens worth the money?...

Pros: Solid build quality sharp edge-to-edge backgrounds smooth Constant barrel length Fast, silent focus.

Cons: expensive older model 105mm sharper calculating DOF can be confusing quite heavy

The Bottom Line: If you shoot wildlife at close quarters, this lens is perfect.

Review: For the field photographer, this lens is a dream come true. Most of my macro photography features moving subjects, such as insects and flowers at high magnification. It's rare to find a lens that can handle auto-focus when working at this level, but...

Pros: I honestly cannot think of any!!

Cons: Poor focus, Poor vibration reduction, A DOG!!

Review: EXTREMELY disappointed!!! For nearly 800 bucks this lens is far from special. vibration reduction?? REALLY???!! Ken Rockwell was right on. Pass this one by!
