Author's Review
I purchased my Outlander about 5 months ago to replace our very "thirsty" Dodge Durango. I did a lot of research on all comparable models before purchasing. I tried the Outlander initially because I also have a Mitsubishi Diamante, and I have loved it. I have found Mitsubishi to deliver a whole lot more for the money than the competition, and comparable reliability. And this Outlander is proving to be another winner.
Our first test-drive in the Outlander made us feel like we were driving a slightly higher class vehicle than the Rav-4, Santa Fe, or CR-V. And all the luxury feature on our Outlander Limited were a bargain compared to the much less equipped competitors.
The big thing I kept reading about the Outlander was the underpowered engine. Well, I think it has great get-up-and-go. It certainly wouldn't compete with my Diamante, but I didn't expect it would. I wasn't purchasing a sports car. And the "manual shift" transmission is pretty fun. All-in-all, I really like driving the Outlander.
The best thing about this vehicle I didn't really experience until our first Michigan snow storm this winter. The Outlander handles better on snow and ice than any vehicle I've ever owned. You see the snow and ice, but you'd never know there was anything there. It's amazing! My drive is on a hill, and I always had trouble getting up with my Durango. The Outlander handles like the drive is perfectly clear and dry. I've even pushed hard to see if I can get the vehicle to lose control even slightly for a moment, and it just won't happen.
Mileage could be a little better, but I'm not complaining -- it's a whole lot better than my Durango (glug, glug).
