Midnight in the Garden of Good Driving, and Evil Driving...
Pros:
Real physics, breaking stuff (other cars, windows, lamp posts, people, etc.), and the ways cars actually react to their surroundings.
Cons:
The concept to race other people is that you must actually race other people to be able to race other people. Sounds like a lot, and it is.

Author's Review
Since I first heard of this game, it was going to be on the checklist for the games to get when the system launch. Just recently, I finally purchased it. And to tell ya the truth, it ain't that bad!
Here's the setup. You're a guy/girl looking for trouble racing on the open city streets where anything can happen. You can hit people, flip other cars, flip your car, bust up garbage bags, and even tear through building windows for a shortcut. The bad part about this is, you're not alone. If you want to be one of the most elite, unbeatable car drivers out there, you're going to have challenge the ones who already hold that rank. These people call themselves the Midnight Club -- an underground racing posse that's the best of the best.
What you must do is drive around until you're noticed, then you'll begin the race. If you win, you're in. The lineup of cars in the game include Taxicabs which are slow (Max speed at around 60 MPH I think), but you've got to start out with one. Sucks huh? There's pickup trucks, small sporty speed cars, and if you have the game, there's even a souped up Dune buggy from the game Smuggler's Run that will automatically be placed in your two player mode lineup. There's still more cars to unlock than these babies. There's still more cars to unfold. But to do all that, you've got to remember that you must be number one, or else it's useless.
There's also a two player mode where you're able to play capture the flag. Exactly like Smuggler's Run version of steal the contraband, and bring it to its destination. There's included functions to the two player mode where you can set the mood. If you want the weather to be morning, it'll be done. If you want to see rain, or fog at midnight, you've got it! Think that's all you can change? Think again! You can also set the number of pedestrians, or even the number of cars to tamper with. The rule to racing in Midnight Club is kind of cocky, but it poses a great challenge. And it's an innovative idea that might spread to something new. Also, Rockstar Games is new to the game business, and the detail in their cars, and the way they make them shine on the PlayStation 2 are superb. If cars and crashing is your fancy, you might want to pick this one up on the go.
