GX 1 review

I bought this for duplicating DVDs produced in house at our church. The MAC software did not work as advertised so I installed everything on a Windows XP box and all went well. It is a little slow burning but since it burns and prints I can set the job and walk away.

It does need a fresh boot of my PC AFTER I turn on the drive for it to work right every time but overall it does a great job. The print quality is fantastic and I have done about 100 disks and I am still on the original ink cartridge.

The robotic part of the machine works smooth and is fairly quite. I have the machine on my desk and it takes up little room. I have dropped CDs and DVDs into the bottom of the feeder and it is a little tricky to retrieve them. You definitely need to be careful when loading but once you get the hang of it all goes smooth.

It also seems to have no problem with +R or -R disks for DVD duplication. What ever I feed it seems to burn with no problem.

For the price, I cannot find a better solution. Printers and burners separately run about $500 more. Plus, like I said before, the ease of having it all done in one shot is worth something.

It also has a reject tray for bad media. I have gotten a few disks rejected but I think they were bad from poor handling by people around here.

I did follow the instruction to the letter when installing the software. It was easy to understand and pretty straight forward. Support at Microboards is also good.
