The Mercedes Benz C280: A Comparison
Date of Review: Nov 24, 2005
The Bottom Line: This car is reliable, fun to drive, and a good to keep. It has the essence of a Mercedes Benz.
I bought my car in July 2005. I still don't understand why I could not find good reviews about my car. The 1999 C280 is a car to keep. I wanted to trade for the newest C CLASS version, but I wasn't satisfied with them. I feel like the older one's are well built,uniquely designed and retain the qualities that Mercedes Benz is known for.
Most people feel that the cars produced beginning with the 2000 model do not meet the standard.
Some of these features that have not improved or disappeared completely are;
- Bose Premium Audio System (The placement of the speakers in the interior allows for better sound reproduction).
- Auto Climate Control (The older systems have preset variables that allow for better comfort control).
- Full Power Seats (The newer models do not have power seats in the standard package)
- Interior Space (The older models are larger overall which allows for more leg and head room in both the front and the back seats. Also, the design of the dashboard and it's various controls are more elegant than in the newer models).
- Exterior Features( The various details more closely reflect the traditional Mercedes Benz design. The front grill and star have almost completely disappeared from the new models).
- Overall Size (Being a larger car, the older ones drive smoothly and quietly and are still easy to park).
In conclusion the 1999 C280 is a much desirable car.
