The Bottom Line: a good top loading machine without too many unnecessary bells and whistles
we've had the washer 6 weeks now and are happy with it. it's on the first floor, over a basement, in a small laundry room right next to the kitchen and family room. no vibration or noise issues.
this was not our first he machine. we also have a bosch axxis washer at our townhouse where space was an issue. (i love the bosch.) we went with a top loader instead of a front loader just because there seemed to be fewer parts to fail/leak in the long run.
we're happy with the performance so far. definitely better than the top loader it replaced for cleaning, noise, and water consumption. any extra washtime is made up for in the drying time.
the clothes definitely get tumbled. some items will turn inside out during the wash. it's been a little harder on some clothes than our bosch, but i'm doing bigger loads and probably not sorting as much as i should for slightly delicate items. i found reading the manual about the features of the different cycles helps - and then using the right cycles. the old standard agitator machine damaged clothes too if there were any loose threads or edges.
wrinkles go with the high spin speed. most things do ok with a shake between the washer and the dryer. (bosch has a fluff at the end of their loads that does some of this for you) i don't find things that much more wrinkled than before when they're done in the dryer.
the controls are easy to use. we leave the lid open to dry out the machine, just like i was taught as a kid. we'll see how it holds up. i did buy the extended warranty which i never do, but it seemed reasonable given new technology and potential for electronics failure after 1 yr (standard).
shop around for the price and consider the warranties offered. we bought on sale where the regular price was generally higher but the warranty better and cheaper. our final price for both machine and warranty was less than the nonsale price for machine alone at many places.
