Author's Review
Computer mice - if you're like me you've gone through about 5 of them in the past 5 years. I was never happy with the ones that came with my computers, but never wanted to fork out the cash to buy a new one. Then came the optical mice - and I just HAD to have one. Luckily my boyfriend had an extra one and generously handed it down to me. I've been using my Logitech Optical Mouse for a year now and haven't turned back.
Feel (AKA Wanna Pet My Mouse?)
As far as the fit and feel of this mouse I would say it is average. It's pretty small and may not fit people with big hands. It's not one of those dented-mice, so it's perfect for both right and left handers. The whole thing is very symmetrical. The feel doesn't bother me, it's nice and smooth and fits my hand fine - if I had any complaints it would be that it's a tad too small. I give the ergonomics/feel of it a B
Good Features
I am very proud of this mouse. It's worked well and it looks pretty. The first thing that attracted me to it was that it is optical. Optical mice are 10 times better than ball mice - you don't have to clean them, they work on most any surface, you don't have to worry about the ball not moving or someone stealing it. I would never go back to Ball mice.
Another great feature is the ever popular wheel. A wheel is one thing I can't live without on a mouse. It makes scrolling pages and things so much easier - it's like the optical feature - once you have it you'll never go back.
Another thing about this mouse is that it is good looking. All those beige-grey mice get boring after awhile. This mouse is a metallic blue with grey buttons and has a little Logitech bubble on it. Plus, the red light is fun to play with. The mouse, aside from PS2, is available in USB so it's plug-n-play and very convenient since USB ports come in multiples and can by multiplied with ports. It is also customizable from the control panel. You can change what each button does as well as how many lines the wheel scrolls through. Finally, the mouse comes with a 3 year warranty, although I've never had to use it.
The Not-So-Good
There are few problems with this mouse. The only real problem I've had with it is that it tends to stall to a dead stop for about 2 seconds sometimes. I got used to it, but other people are bothered by it. I don't know if this was the mouse, or my computer, and I no longer have the problem so perhaps it was a fluke.
The only other thing that could be better about this mouse is that it is not cordless. Nowadays cordless is the way to go, but honestly, who really NEEDS a cordless mouse?
To Buy, or Not To Buy
Overall this is a cute, versatile, reliable mouse. I would recommend it for those who aren't looking for a brand-new top-o'-the-line mouse, but are sick of their trackball. Plus, I would recommend it for people who are ambidextrous. A good mouse at a reasonable price, who could ask for more?
