Pros:
Logitech's mouse is easy to use and has handy extra buttons for page navigation.
Cons:
I bet it wouldn't survive hot coffee either.
The Bottom Line:
In a world of wireless, I still like my wired optical mouse. I always know where it is!

Author's Review
I didn't mean to!, it was an accident, but the other day my mouse died. I spilled hot coffee on it. The little mouse pointer went crazy, then it just died. I had to buy a new mouse.
I have tried wireless mice before, but sometimes I sit at the wrong angle or distance from my computer, and wireless just doesn't work. I actually even tried Logitech's wireless mouse, and it failed to register on my computer. I don't know why, nor do I care, I just went back and bought this mouse.
Why the Logitech MX 310 Mouse?
Frankly, I got this because it was one of the cheapest mice at Staples. I didn't want to spend 80 bucks on a mouse, I was upset enough that I had carelessly destroyed my perfectly fine working mouse that came with my computer. This was $22.00 bucks and since wireless didn't work, I was pretty sure that a wired mouse would.
Optical?
Instead of a track ball that can be destroyed by hot coffee, this has an optical eye that can be destroyed by hot coffee. I haven't yet, and I hope not to. Under the mouse is an optical eye that senses when it is moved and moves your cursor accordingly. I am told it is an LED eye, although I thought it looked like a laser. I really don't know how the technology works, but I know that it does and there is no track ball to get stuck.
Installation
Shut off your computer, plug it in, turn the computer on, load the software. Even a caveman can do it! Wait, sorry Geico says I can't say that, well, even I can do it.
Actually a pretty handy Mouse
I have to say, I'm glad I got this mouse, I like it. Ergonomically it fits right into my hand. I use this in my living room, where I have a small monitor I can work on while watching TV, or I can switch the computer image to my movie screen which is cool for games like Runescape. (Not that I play Runescape of course, that game is for kids, my character is only level 64, but anyway).
Indents on the sides of the mouse fit your thumb and little finger perfectly while your middle fingers rest on the two buttons. A wheel in the center allows you to scroll up and down a page. Even cooler small little buttons on each side let you move forward and back a page, no more zooming up the task bar to hit the forward or back arrow. Even cooler, a small button in the middle right behind the scroll button brings up all your open windows for quick switching.
Wouldn't you want Wireless?
Having a wire on the mouse means I won't lose the darn thing. I can just follow the wire from my computer and their it is. If it was wireless, it would be like my guitar capo, my projector remote and my car keys. I want it, I need it, but where did I put it? Sometimes wireless isn't everything, I still have to hunt down my cordless phone every time it rings. Usually by the time I find it, the person has hung up. I imagine I would be equally upset if I misplaced my wireless mouse, and i am sure that I would at least a few times. I still haven't found my guitar capo, and now I can't play Here comes the Sun. My mouse is right here though as I write this review.
Does it work well?
Yes, this is accurate, moves smoothly and quickly and it's easy to use. Like most mice, you can adjust the tail, the speed, sensitivity etc. in the menu settings. I custom chose my settings. I believe they are called Factory Default. Works for me!
Summary
It's a mouse! It works great and has handy extra buttons for quick and easy page navigation. I like the wire, it keeps me connected, and doesn't need batteries or recharging. five stars.
