Author's Review
My wife and I have owned Lexus ES300's since 1994. We had a 1994 and a 1997 and loved them both. This time, we thought maybe something more sporty would be nice. We looked at other cars and my wife really loved the Chrysler Sebring convertible. I kind of preferred the Buick Regal. She thought that was a car for old people.
We went on an extensive test drive of the Sebring convertible and back to the dealer to talk about price. I still had Lexus in my mind since I had visited the Lexus dealer and talked with the general manager a few times but had never test driven the 2000 ES300. Before signing the paper on the Sebring, I said I wanted to see the ES300 one more time.
The Chrysler manager personally walked me next door to the Lexus dealer and knew he was in trouble when the Lexus general manager came out and said, "Welcome, RockyBug (or my real name), it is great to see you again." I explained I had not driven the 2000 ES300 yet and he got one out for me right away. Well, my wife and I went on a drive and believe me, there is no comparison between the Lexus and the Sebring. The difference is night and day. Smooth quiet ride, luxury leather seats, premium stereo system, power when you need or want it, and just the feeling of being in a Lexus.
Needless to say, we decided on the Lexus ES300. It is black with black leather interior and looks like a million dollars for a fraction of the cost. If you can get a Lexus for $5,000 over the ordinary car, why go anywhere else? Of course, I did have to promise my wife that we would rent a convertible whenever we did any travelling! And I have lived up to my word - on that matter.
