Author's Review
Lapidary Journal has it all! There are profiles of artists which are written to inspire, not to intimidate, there are excellent, very clear articles on how to perform various tasks in the jewelry arts, from cutting your own stones to looming tiny beads. Using back issues of the Lapidary Journal, I daresay you could acquire most of the skills you'd need to design and create jewelry. One thing I find priceless in Lapidary Journal is the Shop Helps column. It's usually located in the middle of the magazine, and is worth the price alone, due to the very specific solutions to those problems which only come up when you're making jewelry.
Do you want to know how much I like it? Parsimonious soul that I am, I am on my fourth year subscribing. Each and every time I have been called to renew, I have done so. That's not always the case with myself and magazines. I'll even drop free ones, if I think they aren't worth the paper in my recycling bin. The Lapidary Journals never make it to the recycling bin, however, as I archive every one for further reference.
For inspiration, instruction, and beautiful photos, it can't be beat. If you decide to try it, and like it, send me a note, I'd like to know.
