Product Review

Problems Problems Problems

by   kibbo ,   Jan 31, 2009

Pros:  Looks nice and love the white glass top, cleans very easily

Cons:  Oven doesn't heat evenly.  Undercooks or burns food.  LG is no help.  Could care less.

The Bottom Line:  Do not buy.  Oven does not heat properly and LG is not interested.

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Would not buy again.  Purchased the LG range in Nov 2006 and it has not cooked properly since.  Sometimes things are undercooked; sometimes burned.  The temperature that you enter is not the temperature in the oven.  I have two additional thermometers in the oven so I can regulate heat.  I continually have to adjust the heat while cooking.  I tried adjusting the heat permanently in the computer, but since the heat is inconsistent--no luck.  After 1.5 years some of the burners stopped working.  We had an LG certified repairman come and $400 later, we had burners.  He stated there are numerous issues with this range.    We contacted the LG customer service and since we were a few days out of warranty they fixed the stove. In addition, I used the self cleaning oven which got so hot, it changed the color of the finish on a small corner of the oven.

Now 6 months later:  the inconsistencies in heat are getting worse.  I called the repairman again and now the computer and sensors are not working.  This will cost $576.  He recommended we just get a new stove.  The stove originally cost $719 plus $400 plus what it would take to repair it this time--well, I do need a new range, but it will definitely not be an LG.  We called LG customer service and they could care less, there is nothing they can do for us.  They do not stand behind their product.  I should not have to get a new stove after only 2 years.   I bought this range with an LG dishwasher, refigerator and washing machine.  This way all my appliances would match.  I am now sorry I did since I will have to get a new range and it will not be made by LG.
