Disappointed with Hearts
Date of Review: May 2, 2003
The Bottom Line: I wouldn't recommend this game to anyone but an experienced player, and a patient one.
I must admit I'm a picky game player. Seems that most who played this game enjoyed it immensely. However, I returned the game just after two days of playing it.
One of the most frustrating things with any game is, for me, the game play. I truly disliked how when you turned, the camera didn't move. So you were in fact, running TOWARDS the camera and into God-only-knows-what sort of trouble ahead. You'd have to manually turn the camera angle so that you're behind him again. This is also very annoying during fighting, or when you're running around exploring.
The plot seems slow to me. Not much is explained, and what is explained goes between the main character, and then these cinematic of Mickey's castle and all the characters there. I couldn't click out of the cinematic, which is annoying if you have to replay a part of the game. Some of these cinematic are also lengthy to sit through.
I thought it was odd skipping from the more interesting plot of this main character than the goofiness of well- Goofy and Donald Duck (if you can understand anything that duck says anyway) and what was going on with 'King' Mickey. Oh now Mickey is a king now?? When did that happen?
Oh wait.. it was just a game.
I found that after a couple of days, and realizing that I wasn't enjoying myself, it was time to return this game. I can see why some people might like this game, with the cute graphics, the intricate scenes to explore, and the various adventures you take on, however, for myself, I give this a thumbs down.
