Product Review

Not happy at all!!!

by   r80gs ,   Jul 9, 2005

Pros:  Big feed tube

Cons:  Broke in less than a year, no customer support, low quality juice.

The Bottom Line:  Avoid this one and get a screw type juicer that can do greens and gets more juice and better quality juice! Your health matters to me!

Overall Rating: 1/5 stars

Started out fine but went downhill and customer service was no where in sight! Has a large mouth for feeding the veggies in which was a big plus and why I bought it (new).

It worked ok but the pulp wasn't as dry as advertised. Also the commercial said you can put it all in seeds and all but the instruction manual says don't do it.

The blade got dull pretty quick and in less than a year the plastic base that the basket screws down onto showed stress cracks then broke off! I was sick! I contacted customer support twice by email and they never answered back.

I would never own this piece of junk again and now am considering the new Omega 8005 Juicer
With Pulp Ejection screw type model for around $220. I'm getting back into the raw food way of life and in the last 5 days have dropped 5 pounds! I'm juicing mainly celery w/cucumber in my old Juiceman Jr. See www.davidwolfe.com for great info on the raw organic lifestyle. Be aware that his parents are both MDs so he tends to approach it with common sense like keeping your glycimic index low by going heavy on green veggies and light on fruits. Since going with his advice, my teeth are much stronger and my moods are more even compared to when I was doing carrot juice and bananas!

Minerals is what the body needs and oxygen. Please check out his website and consider the juicer that I mentioned above as it turns at a slow speed, wrings out the pulp till it's dry and puts out a much healthier and LONGER lasting juice!

Update, (JULY 9 - 2005) I just purchased the Omega 8005 thru one of this website's recommended shops www.Compuplus.com. I'll update you all with the results when it arrives and I've had a chance to use it.

I've owned the Omega 1000 in the past but cleaning was a pain and you had to clean it before continued juicing when doing larger amounts so I sold it.

The Juiceman Jr. I use now is LOUD and clogs up after 32 ounces. Also the pulp is too wet so I'm not getting full extraction.

The Jack LaLane unit broke down over a year ago and I have pieces of it here and there and really don't know anymore where the instructions are or what the capacity is.

I don't remember about the position of the controls or how big the container was or if the feet were made of rubber, plastic or neoprene ( ; and I really don't care to because when it broke so quick, none of that really matters to someone who buys one does it?

If the infomercial lies and the machine is junk what else matters? What matters is finding a great machine with a track record. Two trusted names are Omega and Champion.

I tend to lean towards the Omega for this reason. The Omega 1000 I owned a few years back was a well made unit but didn't have pulp ejection so it was a pain if I juiced more than 32 ounces (which I do). I can say the Omega 1000 is perfect for a small amount but after researching mostly articles and bulletin boards all over the web, reading all kinds of books and attending raw food seminars I am now more inclined to purchase an Omega 8005 masticating juicer for the following reasons...

(Unlike the Centrifigal type juicers out there) it turns at 80 RPM which doesn't heat up and mix tons of air into your juice which in turn keeps the nutrients in a fresh state and allows the juice to keep for a couple days not a half an hour! BIG IMPROVEMENT RIGHT!

Next thing, it ejects the pulp so you can juice a lot more before you have to rip down , clean and reassemble the unit.

Also it is a better made product so it will last much longer and I've been reading 10 year warrantee all over the sights that sell it.

Then (unlike a centrifigal type) there is the advantage that it gets more juice out of your fruits and veggies leaving your pulp dry so you actually save more money and with organic produce prices that's a big PLUS.

Also it will juice wheatgrass and make pasta, nut butters and ice cream, will your centrifigal juicer do that?

Plus (unlike a centrifigal type) it operates very quietly so when I get up at 4 AM for work and want to make a fresh batch of juice, I no longer have to worry about upsetting the neighbors in unit G-11 who I share a common wall with or my neighbors in G-22 who I share my ceiling with ( ;

I only wish I had purchased a (masticating type) juicer years ago! I think I found my slice of heaven in the OMEGA 8005 (the 8003 is the same thing but in white not chrome)

And for $220 I think it is cheap compared to all the centrifigal models I have owned over the years, all of which were messy, loud (except the Omega 1000 to a lesser degree), ineffiecient and unacceptable!!!

Hope this helps anyone thinking about getting a centrifigal. SAVE YOUR MONEY and get a masticating type. OMEGA is TOP NOTCH so consider that brand!

And remember juicing organic celery (1 bunch a day) will dramatically improve your health by providing PH balance to your body and inducing peristulsis ? spelling ? to your colon! I've been getting better each day with this juice and it flat out will BLOW YOUR MIND!!! Just think of it... One bunch a day is 32 ounces (in a centrifigal juicer probably much more in a masticating juicer) and you can add some kelp or spirinella or some other green powder for even more mineral influx!

You'll feel the energy like never before and NO SUGAR blues as with high sugar content fruits. I'm not knocking carrot and orange juice but you need to be highly active IMO before getting those juices in you , on the other hand, any juice is better than the S.A.D. diet! GOD BLESS!!!!
