Good CD and DVD player

If you are in the market for a cheap CD player, this DVD player is likely better than every CD and DVD player at this price point. It handles busy music well while maintaining resolution in the high hats. Depth of musical image is OK. Fast to attack on every frequency of the musical spectrum. More revealing and interesting to listen to than my expensive Sony Walkman, which was hooked up to my tube amplifier earlier. I have been trying about three different DVD players with the CD capability in mind before settling with this one; the others went back to the different stores for a quick refund. If there is anything to complain about it is the lack of airiness in the musical image. Only medium-irritating in the way it reproduces the spoken s-sound (hiss present). I never hear a CD player that plays like the good old LP players.

One very annoying thing about ours is that one hour into every CD it starts to skip for a while and then the skipping goes away, playing the rest of the CD cleanly. If this is a bug or dirt in our CD player, I don't know. It doesn't affect the DVD movies.

It handles DVD movies well.
