Pretty Slick
Date of Review: Jul 10, 2006
The Bottom Line: A stylish bargain with very few rough edges.
It looks like a $18,000 car and feels like a $16,000 car, but costs about $12,000.
Bad:
Small children could probably tear the volume knob off the stereo easily, it feels cheap. The center armrest storage space is about one inch deep. I suppose it's for documents, coins? The rear seats fold down... but not easily. If that's a feature you plan to use frequently (i.e. the actual folding motions) you should check it out before buying. I have to really shove mine back up violently for them to lock. I haven't found the prefect seat position yet, and lastly the shifter throws are kinda long for a "GT." ;)
Good things:
Just about everything is standard, including leather, side airbags, alarm and power everything. Bright headlights, more with the fog lights on. Stereo sounds great. Controls (HVAC, Stereo, Power windows, power mirrors) are simple and intuitive. Purple gauges and round tail lights look cool. Entry/exit lights on the bottom of the doors are nice. Cargo space looks very large even with the rear seats up, and those seats certainly look spacious. There's small clever touches throughout, such as the storage latch for the rear seat belt anchors (so they don't get lost under the folding cushion), and small but useful storage bin near your left knee, which actually conceals a fuse box.
