Functional And Decorative- Hunter's Feng Shui

I had just moved into my new place and needed a fan. Living without central air is possible here in northern Wisconsin, however can be made much more tolerable with a fan placed here and there for air movement.

I never liked fans, since I had never found one that looked nice in a room. Made more for function than flair, I had low expectations of ever finding a fan that not only looked nice, but also functioned well for its intended use. I was pleasantly surprised when I stumbled upon the Hunter Century Brushed Nickel Fan.

I was thrilled! Made in the turn-of-the-century tabletop style, it blended well with the various antiques I had scattered around the house, as well as having the brushed nickle finish I favor throughout my home. Best of all, when I took it from the box, it was completely assembled and only cost about $50.00.

I am familiar with Hunter's ceiling fans and have always been impressed with the power and high quality construction. This piece is no different, made very sturdy with all metal parts and smooth moving controls, it is not as quiet as the famous ceiling versions, however it is quiet enough to have on while watching television or sleeping.

Also, it moves air beautifully regardless of the size of the room, with three different speed levels; high, medium and low. You also have the option of oscillating movement that will swivel the 12" blades a range of 85 degrees, or stationary function that can be engaged with a simple tightening of a button located behind the blades at the top of the unit. There is also a adjustment below the head to allow the unit to be tilted up or down. This tightener as well as the grip on the air flow control is only plastic parts found on the piece.

A nice addition to the design, is simple flip up clips that hold the fan "cage" together making the cage and the fan blades themselves easy to disassemble for cleaning.

Although the unit is constructed with a sturdy metal cage with bars that are very close together, I believe there is still danger of "little fingers" being damaged if left unsupervised with the fan in the room. Especially since the blades are metal as well and very unforgiving. Please be aware of this if you have curious little ones around who like to stand in front of the fan and sound like Darth Vader like mine do. "Maaaaama, I am your Lucassss" My son (Lucas)loves to say.

All in all, this fan is everything I was looking for. Sturdy construction, powerful air movement, beautifully and nostalgically put together and easy to clean. It fits in so well with my decor that I had no need to put it away during the winter months. A wonderful addition to your home with everything you can expect from the Hunter brand name.
