I've owned three of these fans (for different parts of my home) for six months.
For ten bucks, I can't imagine anyone finding a better fan. It is definitely loud at highest setting. At its lowest setting, it's still pretty effective, and the noise level is reasonable.
I've read some comments about this fan being unstable on its base. I completely disagree. If this unit is sitting flat on a level surface, there is no way it's going to fall over. If someone tries to balance it on an uneven window ledge that is only half the width of the fan base, well, duh-- it might fall.
The big complaint I have about this fan is the limitation in how it can be mounted on the wall. It has a mounting bracket on its underside, but it can only be hung in the horizontal position. Because this fan only pivots up and down (does not pivot side to side), it means that the location on the wall must be directly opposite from where you want the fan to blow-- since you can only pivot it from floor to ceiling in that one direction after it is mounted.
If it accommodated a vertical mount, that would turn the fan "sideways" on the wall, which would let you angle it toward any part of the room. I view this as a huge design error.
But again, I'll close as I started. For ten dollars, there isn't a better fan out there that can move as much air and seems as solidly built.
