Works okay but has a lot of problems

I bought this humidifier and I have had good and bad experiences with it. The good things about it are that it works great for the whole house when the filter is wet enough and it is not too dry in the house when I turn it on. The humidity level on the display seems to be accurate and it is easy to read and operate. The bad things about it is that I can turn the humidifier on low fan speed set at 45% and a brand new Holmes color check filter will just dry out and the filter check meter will peg at the off/fill/change area. Another bad thing is the way the humidity sensor is built onto the cord. The pin sized wires that connect to the sensor cannot handle that much movement when the cord is being moved around. They broke inside of the clamp that is on the cord where the big wire coming from the motor housing changes into the lamp cord sized wire. When this happened, the display read 21% all the time and it never shut off. I fixed it and now it displays the right humidity level, but it is still having problems. When the unit turns on, it will run and run and run and it will display that the humidity level is down in the 30's and the windows will have water running down them. When I manually shut it off, the humidity level will keep climbing up into around 60%! It should be shutting off way before that being that I have it set for 45%! I don't really know what to say because I know for sure something isn't right. I used to have a HM3500 and that model is build to work much better. Never had a single problem with the 3500 and the sensor must be inside of that one because it isn't hanging on the cord.
